The Dismemberment Plan transformed the ‘Dise into a sweaty sea of smiles last night, and it was hard to tell who was more excited that the band was finally back in town: the fans who traveled from near and far for the show, or the Plan itself.
It was the band’s first show in Boston since its members parted ways in 2003, and just a few dates into a short reunion tour it would have been understandable if the quartet was a bit rusty. For the most part, though, the Plan was clicking on all cylinders, barnstorming through a 22-song set heavy on material from the recently re-released Emergency & I and the band’s swan song, Change.
The obvious favorites were all represented – “The City,” “Time Bomb” and “What Do You Want Me to Say?” came fairly early, though the most fervent fans in the sold-out crowd had to wait for the encore to join the Plan onstage during “The Ice of Boston.”
