Bear Hands plays Great Scott on Wednesday, Dec. 1 with Hesta Prynn and the Dirty Dishes. Tix here. They also open for Ted Leo and the Pharmacists at Pearl Street in Northampton, MA on Dec. 2.
Bear Hands’ debut full-length has been a long time coming. When I interviewed the Brooklyn quartet nearly two years ago for Metromix, the band had already caught the attention of Entertainment Weekly and Spin thanks to its 2007 Golden EP and its close proximity to fellow Wesleyan University psych-poppers MGMT. Despite the buzz – and the band’s desire to find a label and get to work on its first full-length album – it wasn’t until this time last year that Bear Hands hooked up with Cantora Records. A single for the track “What A Drag”came early this year, followed by the eventual release of Burning Bush Supper Club last month.
Check out “Crime Pays,” the lead track from Burning Bush Supper Club, above, or get a feel for the album’s many twists and turns in the brief trailer below.
